Course Topic Overview
This basic to intermediate level course is intended to teach users about the SolidWorks programming environment. Users will receive introductory Visual Basic training to help familiarize them with the programming language. This course will also teach users how to use the API to automate SolidWorks for their working environment. Key topics include: VBA, menus, toolbars, User Form, Toolbox, Code Window, controls, event procedures, code basics, data types, literals, variables, expressions, math operators, making decisions, comparison operators, If statements, logical operators, Do While Loop, Do Until Loop, list boxes, combo boxes, functions, modular programming, structured programming, calling procedures, external modules, coding subroutines, coding functions, arguments, errors, debugging, macro recorder, macro code, SolidWorks objects, options, properties, part automation, assembly automation, components, mates, drawing automation, sheets, views, Selection Manager, traversal, and custom properties.
This course is designed for SolidWorks users who want to customize SolidWorks. Prior programming knowledge is a plus but is not a prerequisite.
